Your Must Have Gym Essentials

If you are new to fitness or have just been working out at home, then the thought of going to workout at a gym can feel a little daunting. It is a place filled with people that seem to know what they are doing. They have all the gear and know just what to do. Though this certainly isn’t the case, you do want to look and feel good when you go to the gym, or you want to start going to workout classes or training sessions there. With a few handy items, you’ll be able to make your fitness journey that much easier and make your workouts so much more worthwhile. Here are our top essentials for your gym bag.

Gym Clothing

Without a doubt, proper gym apparel is a must for working out. It isn’t all about looking good either. But the right workout clothes will help you to move so much more easily than some old clothes you had laying around. The materials they are made from will help to absorb sweat and keep you cool. Which is what you want when you’re going to be working your butt off, right? You don’t have to spend a lot. But a few essentials, like a top or tank, shorts or leggings, socks and gym shoes are must haves. The right sports bra is key for the women reading this too!

Notebook

If you want to see progression, whether that is with weights you lift, how much you weigh or how long you ran for, then a notebook is key. It could even just be the notes section on your phone. But you need to have it handy. When you make a note of your sessions, including things like how you felt, were you in pain and the weights you lifted, for example. You’ll find i easier to progress if you do this, and you won’t waste time trying to remember what dumbbells you need to grab each time.

Headphones

Gyms will have some music on in the background. But it is often so quiet that it makes no difference. So bring your own headphones, and it will make your sessions fly by. It can also be motivating to workout to music so it pretty much is a must. Decide if earbud headphones are for you, or if you prefer over the ear headphones. It can make a difference with how well you workout, when you don’t have to keep readjusting your headphones.

Water Bottle

Not to state the obvious but you need to have a water bottle when you’re going to the gym. Getting plenty of fluids in your body is really important. You can rehydrate when you’ve got your own, and not have to worry about the line for the water fountain. You can also double it up as a protein shaker if needed, for a post workout pick me up.
