As a teenager, you will have to go through one of the biggest changes in your life. And that is puberty! During puberty, your body will undergo some big changes as it develops and grows ready for adulthood. Lots of teenagers struggle to cope with the emotional and physical changes that occur during puberty, but you shouldn’t worry too much about this phase. After all, it is just a phase and will be over before you know it. However, there are various health tips that can help you get through puberty as smoothly as possible. Read on to find out more.

Stay Positive

Some of the changes may be particularly hard for teenagers to understand or get used to. For instance, when girls start to develop breast buds, they may become very self-conscious and think of their growing breasts as something very alien. Boys will go through a big growth spurt and could feel very awkward when they realize they are a head taller than what they once were! To make sure teenagers get through puberty without these changes affecting their confidence and mental health, it is very important that they stay positive. Just think that everyone goes through these changes, and there is nothing really to worry about!

Sexual Health

Once boys and girls hit puberty, they will suddenly become a lot more aware of the opposite sex. And it won’t be because of cooties! They will soon realize that they can develop for the opposite sex or members of their own sex. Because of this, many teens will want to experiment with their sex and sexuality. As a teen, you shouldn’t be worried about experimenting, but it is incredibly important that you stay safe. If you ever think that you may have developed an illness or disease from sexual contact, you should you ask for an appointment with your doctor so they can check you over.

Hygiene and Puberty

Lots of changes that the body undergoes through puberty will require that teenagers start to step up their hygiene routine. For instance, girls will start to get their period and, because of this, they will need to make sure they are careful to use tampons or pads in a very hygienic way that won’t result in infection. Both male and female teenagers will start to develop more body hair that will also need to be regularly washed in order to prevent body odors. One of the biggest worries that teenagers face through puberty is acne. During puberty, the skin produces a lot more oil because of hormonal changes in the body. However, if you regularly wash and cleanse your face with an antibacterial soap, you shouldn’t have too much trouble with keeping spots and pimples at bay!
