If you have decided it’s time to get off your butt, get fit and stay active, you will need to know how to do this the proper way. Here’s all the tips and trick you need to know, (without cutting the corners!)
Don’t Run Before You Can Walk (Literally!)
Remember that the main goal isn’t to run 20 miles a day, it is just to do something physical and active. If you start off with something small and easy; by the time you have started, you most likely won’t want to stop.
Eat Properly
Just because you’re keeping fit, doesn’t mean you have to starve. Eat. Real. Food. Don’t swear off alcohol or sweets or bread. You’ll be miserable and binge, and then feel bad, and then swear off all that food again – and the cycle will keep repeating itself.
If you don’t trust yourself, use a company like Blue Apron. You will have a convenient and healthy meal delivered right to your door; that is all ready to be cooked and served.
You Don’t Have To Have A Gym Membership
Workout at home if you can’t get to a gym. If you have cable, it probably comes with a whole load of secret workout classes you can do on-demand. This is a great option for when you want to be active but don’t want to leave your house.
Mix It Up
Mix up your routine. Do yoga one day, weight training the next, and a little cardio the following day. If your fitness routine doesn’t bore you, you’re more likely to stick to it.
No Excuses
There’s no excuse not to exercise, (even if you only have 15 minutes to do it.) A short gym routine is better than nothing if you’re really strapped for time or just plain exhausted. You’ll feel better, especially if you spent your day sitting at a computer. Just make sure it’s something you enjoy!
Suck It Up
Exercise when you’re sore. Don’t do anything super intense like weightlifting, but a light jog or brisk walk as part of an active recovery, can help alleviate sore muscles a lot quicker than sitting on your butt doing nothing.
Think Of The Positives
Instead of skipping a workout, focus on how great you’ll feel after. Working out isn’t always fun while you’re doing it, but the endorphin high you get after is awesome!
Sleep Like A Baby
Get sleep. The more you work out, the more you will want to get a good night’s sleep. So the two work very well together. But if you’re crashing at midnight and trying to get up at 7 a.m. for a boxing session, you’re not exactly setting yourself up for making it there.
Beauty Comes From Within
Focus on how you want to feel rather than how you want to look. Working out leads to increased energy and good vibrations all around. So focus on feeling amazing rather than looking good, and you’ll ‘see’ results in no time.
