Feed the Kids for Food Fitness and Stay Fit with Woodworking

We love our children. We wish that they should be happy and healthy. Traditional food habits are changing in the globalized culture of modern lifestyle. Kids also crave for foods that hook them in the media they watch. We, as elders, strive to make them learn good diet habits. We guide them to choose the right foods for their health. Here are some tips that can help kids learn food fitness.

Mayo Clinic explains that food-fitness is making the right choices of foods that can help one live healthily. It says that the right choice of foods with physical activities can  reduce the risks of chronic disease, improve balance and coordination, help one lose weight, and can even boost his/her self-esteem. Teaching kids food-fitness is very important for their growth and health.

Kids need food-fitness

Modern children have their own way of choosing foods. Pizza, chicken fingers, and french fries make up a significant portion of our kids’ diets. But elders know that they need to be trained in their culinary choices to get all the vitamins and nutrients they need for their strength and healthy growth. Healthy eating habits only can help the children live healthier and perform better in their studies. Hence, parents have to encourage the kids to choose rightly.

KidsHealth suggests several guidelines that can help parents encourage their kids to eat right and maintain a healthy weight. Here are a few tips to help the parents for choosing the foods for fitness.

1) Parents should supply foods, diligently

When the children feel hungry, they search the fridge or stored places to eat something. Nutrient foods should be available for them – easily accessible. At the same time the children can be allowed to eat their favorites once in a while.

2) Involving the kids while choosing the menu

Parents can convince the kids to choose the right foods in their menu. Kids will also be excited to learn more about the foods they eat and choose their food. Parents can take the children to grocery stores and allow them to choose one of their favorite foods in exchange for eating the healthy food the parent has chosen.

This exchange idea may end up helping both parents and children. Parents may end up eating a lot of side dishes of macaroni and cheese while the children end up eating the vegetables of the parents’ choice.

3) Do not insist the kids overeat

Some parents compel the children to finish all on the plate. It is not healthy. When the children feel that they are full, they should be allowed to stop eating. Overeating is dangerous. It is the culprit behind obesity and many other health problems. Children should also learn to control their portions.

4) Practice a diet schedule

A regular eating schedule for both meals and snacks is very important. If the children learn this, they will stick to their diet schedule. This provides them energy for their school performance and their healthy growth. Many children, especially teenagers, skip their meals because they are not trained in diet schedule.

5) Never reward the kids with food items

Rewarding the children with foods may indulge an unhealthy habit. Using food as a reward can lead to many problems.

In my opinion, teaching children the right diet habits begins right from the conception of the child. By this habit, the parents prepare themselves to be the role models in choosing the the right foods for their fitness in a fruitful life.
